today’s thought
October 12, 2007
it’s fairly convenient to have an alcoholic as a
father when you don’t get to meet him until you are 21
huh, ironic age too
oh, and I was a bartender at the time
and that is where he came to meet me, at work
funny

Nice one. Be careful though. As a fellow kid of an alcoholic, we have a greater chance of being one as well. As a 36 year old guy I can say because of that, I’ve never had a drink.
Good luck

hi, thanks for stopping in. I’m close to 31 now. definitely not an alcoholic, (actually I rarely drink and when I do I am the lightest lightweight that ever lighted (ty Homer Simpson)). I did have some other demons way back in the day though. I think that was all more of a symptom of circumstances than genetics though, I have to say.
glad to hear you haven’t followed in your parents footsteps. carry on!

terrific poem, and unlike most poems, the thought is a large part of its substance. beautifully done, cinnette.

eh, I dunno. wasn’t really a poem. just occurred to me, all the irony of it.
thanks Jim.
